Hello Healers!
When chilly winds roll in and scratchy throats start whispering for mercy, there’s nothing like a spoonful of homemade herbal syrup to soothe and comfort. This blend brings together marshmallow root, licorice, and ginger — herbs known for their soothing, coating, and warming properties — with a rich drizzle of honey for sweetness and relief.
Not only does it taste lovely, it supports your throat, voice, and overall wellness through the cold months ahead.
Here’s how to make it:
Ingredients:
2 cups water
1 Tbsp marshmallow root (soothes and coats)
1 Tbsp licorice root (moistens and eases discomfort)
1 Tbsp dried ginger or 1 inch fresh (adds warmth and circulation)
1 cinnamon stick (optional, for flavor and extra warmth)
1 cup raw honey
Instructions:
In a small pot, combine the herbs and water. Bring to a gentle simmer.
Reduce the heat and let simmer for 30–40 minutes, until the liquid reduces by about half.
Strain the herbs through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, pressing out as much liquid as possible.
While the liquid is still warm (but not hot), stir in the honey until fully dissolved.
Pour into a clean glass jar and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.
How to use:
Take 1 teaspoon as needed for a sore or dry throat. You can also stir it into warm tea for a soothing boost or drizzle it over toast for a sweet, healing treat.
This syrup is gentle, tasty, and deeply comforting — a reminder that healing can be as simple (and delicious) as nature intended.
Until Next Time!
